Most of our moms co parent and feed and care for other calves as well as their own.

Reba is a fan favourite here. She is always willing to lend a helpful hand around the farm. She is quality control for every bucket of food being fed and every round bale served. Reba has learned there is always some left over feed when we move the chicken tractors so of course she has graciously offered to help clean up

I am kinda a big deal around here..... even if it is only according to these two. Ha ha
Annie the house goat and Alfie ( my sheep with a broken leg)
Every animal is treated with respect and love while in our care, whether they are here for a long time or just a little, everyone's well being is at the top of our priority list!!!

New Pasture day, the girls are impatiently waiting for us to move the fence so they can go on a new pasture section.

Herd checks are very important for a number of reasons
1. Baby check, making sure all babies are present
2. Fence check, everyday things break so we like to walk the fence line and make sure the fencing and wire is all in working order
3. Forage check, making sure the grass is still available and deciding if its time to move the cattle again
4. Momma check, keeping an eye on everyone, whether they are a momma to be, a new mom, or a seasoned momma they all get the same checks
5. This is my favourite- bonding, for us its important that they see us everyday and are comfortable with us being around them. It sure makes life easier when you need to move them or treat them. We only keep the best, quiet cows in our herd for our own safety. Besides, who wouldnt want to cuddle some of these cuties 😍

Quarter beef FAQ: why the weights never match what you think

When you buy a quarter, there are a few different weights people talk about:

1) Live weight (on the hoof)
2) Hanging weight (after harvest)
3) Take-home weight (what goes in your freezer)

Take-home is usually about 60 to 70% of hanging weight, because:
• bone and trim do not go in your freezer
• fat level changes by animal
• boneless vs bone-in changes the final weight

What you DO get is real food for real meals.
And from us, it is always:
100% beef
No glue
No fillers

If you are thinking about a quarter, message us and we will walk you through it so there are zero surprises.
