🚜 We’re Hiring – Stockperson Required 🐮

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Rannagulzion Farms, Perthshire.

Due to our current stockman leaving for personal reasons, we are now looking for a skilled and motivated Stockperson to join our beef enterprise.

This is a hands-on role within a progressive farm, working with cattle and supporting day-to-day operations to a high standard.

🔹 The Role Includes:
• Cattle handling & general husbandry
• Feeding, bedding & yard duties
• Calving, tagging & health monitoring
• Tractor work (including bedding machinery)
• Maintaining high welfare standards
• Basic record keeping & QMS compliance

🔹 We’re Looking For Someone Who:
• Has experience with beef/suckler systems
• Is confident, calm and capable with livestock
• Is competent on a tractor and machinery
• Takes pride in their work and attention to detail
• Can work independently and within a small team

🔹 What We Offer:

Had to share this special moment from today.

Another Saler calf just moments old, and the heifers gathered round to take a look. It’s always amazing to watch their curiosity and instinct – almost as if they know that before long it will be their turn.

Moments like this are what make calving season so special. ❤️

We are proud to announce our first calf on the ground from one our latest Saler stock bulls

A great start to the spring calving here with our first bull calf sired by Farmstock Genetics’ Cumbrian Trevor (Poll).

Trevor was 3rd prize at the Stirling Bull Sales and one of the top-priced Salers bulls on the day at 15,000gns, bred by Farmstock Genetics and sired by Parkfield Polled Nobel, out of the Cumbrian Camelia cow family.

Really pleased to see his first calf arrive strong, lively and up quickly, with mum doing a great job already.

Exciting to start seeing Trevors genetics coming through in the herd and looking forward to the rest of the calves arriving.

📖 Rannagulzion Farms Featured in the Salers Society Journal 🐂

We’re delighted to share that Rannagulzion Farms has been featured in the latest edition of the Salers Society Journal.

The article highlights our commitment to building a commercially efficient, low-input beef system centred around our Salers herd. With 240–250 Salers cows forming the foundation of the enterprise, the focus remains simple — cattle that suit the land, calve easily, and perform with minimal intervention.

For Gordon, it’s always been about producing functional, maternal cows that thrive in the Perthshire uplands while delivering strong weights at sale. It’s great to see that practical, no-nonsense approach recognised nationally.

A big thank you to the Salers Cattle Society UK and to Sian Sharp and Isla Campbell Photography for capturing the story so well.

Alongside our Salers focus, we value the influence of the British Charolais Cattle Society and the role Charolais genetics play in driving growth and performance in commercial systems. We’re particularly pleased to work with our neighbour, Allen Drysdale, who supplies us with quality Charolais bulls. Having that calibre of breeding expertise on our doorstep is a real asset and contributes to the strength, consistency and commercial edge of the cattle coming off Rannagulzion.
