Wasn't sure what to expect with this 2023 Palacio de Otano white Rioja. It's an unoaked 'modern' style and I'm usually up for the traditional, vanilla laden, slightly oxidised bad boys.

I was, however, pleasantly surprised. That being said, it's going to split opinion. As well as lemon, lime and orange, the main lasting flavour is grapefruit for me. Adds a tart, mouth watering finish to the whole caboodle. Makes for a really crisp, juicy, refreshing white, which is an all-round food wine to boot.

A real 'Marmite' white. If you love the bitterness of grapefruit, Welcome aboard. If that's your idea of a bad time, then it's not for you, sadly. Good to have a wine that will inspire a bit of chatter and friendly division on the list though. And it's offers top value for your money. A few in stock from today.

The Entity Wines sale continues and there are a few bottles left of one of my favourite reds. The 2021 La Serre Nuove Dell'Ornellaia. Usually £75 each but down to £55 a bottle. Whilst stocks/the deal lasts.

It might not be a Tuesday night glugger, but at around double the price of a generic restaurant 'House Red', it is sublime. In great years like this, it's not a million miles off its big brother at £235 each either. One for Tuscan and Bordeaux wine fans alike.

My red wine of the year? I'm seriously weighing it up. The La Cayetana Merlot hails from the Ver Sacrum stable of Emilia and Eduardo Soler. True small-scale 'garage' growers and producers who are creating unique Argentine wines.

This was alluring from the first sniff. Silky smooth, packed full of ripe dark plum and black fruits. Subtle enhancing oak notes and perfectly balanced acidity.

A million miles away from the mass market, often overly sweet, or thin, dross that turns people away from this superstar grape. Like a top notch Pomerol that grew up in Argentina.

All of their wines are sustainably grown, vegan, and use the bare minimum of sulphites. All of their wines display elegance, complexity, and refinement. There is no reliance on oak, sugar, or raw power here.

Hardly any left, and that's not sales blather. Like the song, that's The Truth.

The Orsumella 2022 Chianti Classico DOC has just landed. This Tuscan, 100% Sangiovese, beauty hails from a 3rd generation family owned winery in San Casciano Val di Pesa.

Tried it last week, and it was an immediate must stock. Available online at www.entitywines.co.uk

The 25 hectares estate has been certified Organic since 2018. So, no chemical pesticides and the Menichetti family have nurtured a self-sustaining agriculture system. Orsumella is the name of the stream that flows through the vineyards.

Crafted from hand-picked, carefully selected, Sangiovese grapes the wine spends 10 months in French oak barrels before release. An intense ruby red with aromas and flavours of red and black cherry 🍒 blackberry and violets. Wonderfully characteristic lively acidity with a tangy, spicy, and creamy lengthy finish. As well as being family run and organic, it's also vegetarian and vegan. What's not to like?
