Rem and I were out for our morning hike when I suddenly got that feeling that I was being watched… 👀🦌
Turns out, I had an audience standing quietly at the edge of the woods watching us walk by. And of course, this happened on the morning I was out hiking in my pajamas. 😂
One of my favorite parts of farm life is never knowing what wildlife we’ll come across on our walks. These quiet little moments always make the day start a little better.

Some people think farming is peaceful and relaxing… and sometimes it is.
Other times it’s chasing escaped chickens with a coffee in one hand, trying to keep a hat on in the wind, discovering weeds apparently grow faster than anything we planted, and arguing with the weather forecast like it personally offended us.
One minute you’re feeling like a successful farmer… the next minute you’re Googling “Why are my plants doing THAT?” while standing in the middle of a field.
But somehow, between the muddy boots, sore muscles, tractor rides, surprise wildlife visitors, and sunsets over the fields… we wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🌱🚜☀️
Farm life keeps us humble, entertained, and occasionally covered in dirt.

What do you do when it’s raining and the ground is too wet to work in the gardens and fields? You head to the kitchen and start testing recipes for the Farmers Market. 🍓🍰🌧️
Scaling recipes up for market quantities is definitely a learning process… and today included both successes and failures. We had pans that were too small, pans that didn’t get enough batter, pans with too much batter, and oven temperatures that were a little too high for the smaller loaves.
But that’s part of the process — testing, adjusting, learning, and improving. We’ll have all the kinks worked out by the next Farmers Market.
The good news? We’ll be offering strawberry and pound cake bundles for an easy summer dessert idea… and trust us, the successful batches were delicious. 🍓

Remi and I squeezed in a quick hike before the skies opened up and the rain came pouring down. 🌧️🐾
One of my favorite things about our farm is that over half of it is woodlands. Around every bend there’s something beautiful — towering trees, hidden trails, quiet moments, and little pockets of peace that make you stop and just take it all in.
Lately, we’ve been brainstorming with personal trainers and life coaches about offering mindfulness hikes along our trails here at the farm. A chance to unplug, breathe deeply, move your body, and reconnect with nature. 🌿

We definitely needed the rain… and you know who is loving it most? The tadpoles and turtles. 🐸🐢🌧️
Our small ponds on the farm are absolutely filled with tadpoles right now, and hearing the frogs at night is one of our favorite sounds of the season. Not only are they fun to watch, but they also help naturally control insect populations around the farm.
During our walks with Rem, we’ve also been spotting so many turtles lately — mostly box turtles — and this one was especially vibrant and beautiful. After rainy stretches like this, we have to be extra careful mowing and working around the farm to make sure these little guys stay safe.
Of course, the rain has also created a little extra work. Our newly planted apple trees need to be restaked because the ground was so hard a few weeks ago that we couldn’t drive the stakes as deep as we wanted. Now with all the moisture, the stakes and soil support have loosened up quite a bit.
Looks like Farmer Steph will be back at her tree-staking workout this week… and the shoulders are definitely going to feel it. 💪🍎

My kitchen smells absolutely amazing right now 🌿✨

Not all farm helpers have feathers or four legs… some arrive on delicate wings. 🦋
This little visitor stopped by the garden today, reminding us just how important pollinators are to a healthy farm ecosystem. Butterflies help pollinate flowers as they feed, supporting stronger plants, healthier crops, and greater biodiversity across the farm.
They’re also a sign of a thriving environment. When butterflies are present, it usually means the land is providing the native plants, shelter, and balance that wildlife needs to survive.
From wildflowers along the orchard rows to herbs and vegetables in the garden beds, every bloom helps support these tiny workers — and in return, they help support our food system.
Sometimes the smallest creatures make the biggest impact. 🌿🦋
