Vision, Mission & Goals

Vision

The Bundanoon Community Garden is the initiative of a committed group of passionate locals aspiring to be as waste free, and gentle on the earth, as possible. Our vision is to create and maintain a welcoming, productive and beautiful community garden in Bundanoon. Its focus is organic food production with an emphasis on friendship,

fun, sustainability, community engagement, teaching and sharing of knowledge. To make our vision a reality we endeavour to:

• Garden organically; guided by the principles of permaculture
• Be inclusive, welcoming and accessible to all, regardless of age, background or gardening experience
• Share in ideas and decision making in the garden as a team
• Work collaboratively with local community groups and businesses to support and encourage each other.
• Network with other community gardens in the Southern Highlands
•
Goals

• Promote exercise and friendship through group gardening
• Create an environment that helps to reduce stress and worry through “switching off” and coming together in a peaceful setting with achievable tasks.
• Provide relaxation through hands-on productive gardening in a friendly environment
• Educate novice gardeners of all ages on the principles of permaculture and sustainable food production
• Encourage community pride and the spirit of cooperation by connecting people with the land
• Facilitate inter-generational and inter-cultural interactions, and relationships.
• Create a space where knowledge can be passed on, shared, taught and received
• Enable access to fresh, nutritious, organic food
• Offset greenhouse emissions by decreasing food miles and encouraging members to walk, cycle and carpool to the site
• Provide opportunities for learning about recycling, reusing, reduction of waste and water, composting and other sustainable techniques through onsite workshops
• Educate and promote self-sufficiency both in the community garden and at home
• Learn to preserve and store abundant produce, reducing food waste

We have two stalls running today. One on site and one on the Main Street. Come and see us! So many lovely homemade, handmade, home grown and hand stitched items all made with love!

Getting so excited about our Mega sale next Saturday … 2 sites, all things Christmas in the Main Street of Bundanoon with wreaths, seed packs, herb st*****rs and flowers AND at the Community Garden … seedlings, produce and much more. Saturday 23 November 10-2om. See you there 😍

To whet your appetite about all things Community Garden, here is some Chive Flower Vinegar, a sample of some of the incredibly yum things which will be available at our upcoming Mega Market.

Put it in your diary now! We are getting super excited about our Bundanoon Community Garden Mega Market Sale on Saturday 23rd of November.

We have two sites - one in the hub of Bundanoon in front of the newsagent and a second in the garden itself at Ellsmore Road.

We will have all things Christmas and garden for sale in the Bundanoon stand and if you visit our garden, you will find seedlings from all of our produce as well as some fresh produce for sale.

Stalls open 10am to 2pm

We cannot wait to see you there!

So excited to announce our Mega Market Day - Saturday 23rd November. In both the main street of Bundanoon as well as at the actual garden in Ellesmore Road. From 10am to 2pm unless sold out! We will have produce, seedlings, Christmas gifts you will absolutely love! See you there.

We are having a market stall tomorrow.

We have a whole lot of seedlings, rhubarb, preserves and much more morning at the Bundanoon Community Garden, so pop in over and say Hi!

We are very much looking forward to the Garden Ramble this weekend. We are also delighted that our scarecrow won the open division of the Lion's Club competition.

Thank you Lion's Club for organising this and for all the competition. Our scarecrows will certainly add to the Ramble.

We look forward to many visits to check out Titania and our developing site. Plenty to see.

Big thank to Marc Varnhed who just delivered another load of chips for the Community Garden, for the Food Forest. All of the good chips we have used have been donated by Marc. We are delighted and grateful.

We will be open 9.30 to 11.30 and offering preserves, brassica seedlings, nagami cumquat, lavender shortbreads for sale.

EXCITING NEWS! Tomorrow - Saturday 27th of July from 9:30am onwards, the Bundanoon Community Garden will host a mini pop up shop in the community garden space on Elsmore Road.

We will have Pumpkin, Pumpkin Scones, Preserves, Free potted Raspberry Canes and some incredible homemade Lime Cordial.

Pop by and grab a bargain to support us.

Another huge thank you from Bundanoon Community Garden to The Hines Group/ Southern Quarry Supplies. This time they donated a huge load of vege mix for us to use in the Food Forrest, for our potato beds, for our tomato beds, vege pots.
