The maternal herd of Balas Family Farms is starting to take shape. This morning we separated the cows from the feeders and pushed them onto new thick grass. The horses can’t quite keep up with the spring growth giving us the opportunity to feed the cows and let them naturally improve the soil. This also gives us the ability to let other pastures continue to grow in preparation for the hotter and drier weather ahead.
