Some stories aren’t just told… they’re lived. 🚗☕️
“The plight of the petrolhead is real, it’s compelling and driving. Some of my first memories as a child is of a V6 petrol rumbling and the passing orange streetlights and the smell of vinegar from slap chips in my dad’s bakkie. At one stage in those formative years, I was asked to wash and polish my older cousins wedding car, a vintage Humbird Hawke and a Chevy Can Am V8. This was the last time I looked at cars in a normal way… The V8 bug bit hard!! I bought my first Chevy about twelve years ago and did a lot of the work of fixing and rebuilding it myself. I met really great friends in the process, which came from mutual love for big displacement motors. A lot of time, love and import spare parts at high exchange rates has culminated in the truck I drive today. Needless to say that there’s always work to do on an old car, especially when they’re almost 70 years old. My mission is to preserve the old things the way it would have been done in days gone by, and besides safety and comfort, not to modernise it too much. My wife is gracious enough to understand this when we stand temporarily stalled on the side of the country roads we choose to travel. It’s more than petroleum, it’s a way of life.” – Philip
