Introducing our pasture-raised hens and eggs❕

At CJL Farms we have all our layer hens in pasture with grass specially and specifically planted for them. Pastures are alternated to help reduce a contaminated environment❕

Pasture-raised hens lay a higher quality of egg with more benefits than the standard battery hens that we are accustomed to ❕

Some of the benefits are:

▪️Higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids - This nutrient is known for their heart healthy and anti-inflammatory properties.
▪️Vitamins A and D - These nutrients are vital for vision, immune function and bone health.
▪️Vitamin E - Pasture-raised hens are exposed to more sunlight which means their eggs are higher in this antioxidant.
▪️Choline - This nutrient is important for brain health, muscle control and mood.
▪️Yolk colour - These eggs often have a darker and brighter orange yolk which indicates the higher levels of vitamins and antioxidants.
▪️Flavour - It is believed that these pasture-raised hens lay an egg with a more flavourful and richer taste.
▪️Hormone free - We do not use pesticides or herbicides on our pastures, leading to a hormone free and healthy egg.

Each egg has a 28 day shelf life and up to 6 weeks when kept refrigerated ❕

Pasture-raised hens are kept in a more natural environment to help promote natural behavior such as foraging and pecking, which leads to a happier hen and better egg quality ❕

The pasture-raised hens also support biodiversity and soil health which leads to a sustainable food system while taking their welfare into consideration ❕
