🐔 DAY 14–21 | WEEK 3 — THE GROWTH PHASE

By Week 3, your broilers are growing fast — and good management becomes more important than ever. 💪🐔

This is the stage where small daily habits can make a BIG difference to growth, uniformity and your final results.

🌾 Feed: Move onto Grower Feed and keep it fresh and available.
💧 Water: Clean, cool water must always be available.
🌬️ Ventilation: Fresh air is essential — without cold drafts.
🪵 Litter: Keep bedding dry, loose and clean.
⚖️ Monitor growth: Check your birds’ weight and uniformity.
🛡️ Biosecurity: Don’t let your guard down just because the chicks are bigger.
😴 Sleep: Give your birds a proper dark/rest period every 24 hours.

📊 Growth milestones:
Day 14 → ±450–550 g
Day 21 → ±900 g–1.1 kg

🌾 Feed intake guide:
Approximately 60–90 g per bird per day during Days 14–21.

Remember: Healthy birds don’t happen by chance. Good feed, clean water, fresh air, dry litter, proper rest and daily observation all work together.

❤️ Look after your birds — and they will reward you with better growth and better results.

🛡️ Biosecurity Starts Before Your Chicks Arrive

Medication cannot replace poor biosecurity. A clean, well-prepared broiler house gives chicks the best possible start.

Before chick arrival:

🏠 Remove all old litter

* Completely remove used bedding, feathers, dust and manure.

🧼 Wash and disinfect the poultry house

* Clean all floors, walls, equipment, feeders and drinkers with a quality disinfectant.

🌬️ Allow the house to dry

* A dry environment helps reduce harmful bacteria, viruses and mould.

🪵 Add fresh, dry bedding

* Use clean wood shavings or other suitable litter.
* Ensure the bedding is dry and evenly spread.

🔥 Preheat the brooding area

* Switch on heat sources 12–24 hours before chick arrival.
* Aim for a brooder temperature of 32–35°C.

🌡️ Check temperature and ventilation

* The house should be warm without drafts.
* Ensure fresh air circulation while avoiding cold winds.

🥣 Prepare feed and water

* Fill drinkers with clean, fresh water before chicks arrive.
* Place feed in feeders (or on clean chick paper for the first day).

🚪 Control access

* Only essential people should enter the poultry house.
* Use a disinfectant footbath or disinfect footwear before entering.

🐀 Pest control

* Eliminate rodents, insects and prevent wild birds from entering the house.

🩺 Inspect all equipment

* Ensure feeders, drinkers, heaters and thermometers are clean and working properly.

💡 Remember:

Good biosecurity prevents disease. Good management reduces stress. Healthy chicks require less medication.

Prevention is always cheaper than treatment.

🐥 BROILER GUIDE | DAY 8–14

Week 2 is where your chicks start showing their true growth potential. Every day counts, and the small things you do now will have a big impact on their performance later.

By Day 14, a healthy broiler chick should ideally weigh 450–550 g, with a target of ±500 g. If your birds are below 400 g, it’s time to review their management:
✅ Are they warm enough?
✅ Are they eating and drinking well?
✅ Is the litter clean and dry?
✅ Is there enough fresh air without cold drafts?

Healthy, active chicks that are growing evenly today will reward you with better performance at market age.
