For September, we’ve selected six w**eries and explored both sides of their cellars, choosing one white and one red from each producer.

Joburg, you understood the assignment. 🐻🍷

3 September marked our first Paisley Bear W**e Club takeover in Johannesburg and, frankly, you made a very strong case for our return.

19 guests joined us at Don Armando in Illovo for exceptional South African w**e, Argentinian-inspired food & 10/10 company.

Silverthorn W**es River Dragon Cap Classique got things started before we explored seven of our favourite Paisley Bear discoveries from the past five years.

The whites brought freshness, texture & a little coastal magic through Raats Original Chenin Blanc, Trizanne’s Sauvignon Blanc–Semillon & the layered JAN White.

Then came the reds: elegant Raats Dolomite Cabernet Franc, juicy JAN Red, peppery Saxenburg Private Collection Syrah & the gloriously powerful Cavalli Warlord.

The food, it must be said, did not come to play a supporting role. Empanadas, calamari, chorizo & grilled sweetbreads made way for Argentinian short rib, T-bone, chicken thighs & baked line fish, before dulce de leche pancakes & crème caramel finished us off properly.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made our first Joburg gathering such an outrageous success. Meeting clients old & new, sharing w**es we love & watching strangers become drinking companions was exactly what we’d hoped for.

Joburg w**e lovers, keep an eye out. The Bear will be back.

This August collection moves from structured Cabernet and peppery Syrah to elegant Pinot Noir, juicy Cinsault and two generous Cape blends.

Aslina Cabernet Sauvignon opens the collection with blackberries, red plum and dark spice, shaped by firm tannins and a long, chalky finish. For years we've *been* the bear, owning his epic taste in w**es, his naturally stylish approach to sipping and pairing, celebrated in his cheekiness and unbounded love for all this South African (and South African sports).

So today we put all these things into our PBWC agent (Mr. Chad GPT) and produced this handsome devil! 😈

July’s white collection will turn anyone into a "white w**e during winter" drinker. It's incredibly balanced; from first sip to last bottle.

Copper Pot and Craven w**es offer two very different expressions of Chardonnay. Groot Constantia and Groote Post Vineyards show just how versatile Sauvignon Blanc can be. Cederberg W**es and Stettyn Family Vineyards' Shackleton remind us why Chenin remains South Africa’s signature white grape.

Fortunately, this month’s red collection is prepared for both.

This month's red edition is a true master collection (or an absolute banger, as the kids say):

Bramptons Roxton Black Cabernet Sauvignon brings the structure, Craven's First Vineyard Syrah brings cool-climate elegance, and Copper Pot Pinot Noir keeps things beautifully refined.

The Stettyn Family Vineyards Shackleton Grenache, Swerwer Red Blend and Groot Constantia's Lady of Abundance, each bring their own unique version of warmth, spice and winter comfort.
