Western Cape really chose violence this week 😅
488mm of rain in 3 days. Roof tiles gone, our ceiling eventually gave in from all the water, roads closed, Mitchells Pass shut after a massive slip… and electricity that appears briefly like a surprise guest before disappearing again 🙈
So naturally… I decided this was the perfect time to make Portuguese Water Bread....
Bread went into the oven.
Three minutes later… power out. 🤦🏻♀️🤣
But honestly? The Thermomix had already done the heavy lifting:
✔ Perfect dough
✔ Beautiful rise
✔ No messy kitchen chaos
✔ Dough so good we could rescue it on the fire
So the loaf finished baking in a pot over the coals… and somehow became the most rustic, wood-fired artisan bread ever 😍🔥
Not exactly the baking plan I had in mind… but at this point we’re basically running a storm-survival bakery over here 😂
