We recently visited Sorrento, a coastal town in Southern Italy that overlook the bay of Napoli. One thing we loved about Sorrento was the citrus groves perched across the city!

In Sorrento, a citrus grove is affectionately referred to as a “garden”—a term that evokes the Arab concept of a serene, pleasurable place.

Sampling all the exciting citrus varieties in Europe! 🍊🍋

Right now, we’re living and working in the Netherlands, travelling and soaking up all the citrus knowledge we can get our hands on. On our travels, we’ve been lucky to explore (and taste) some of Europe’s most exciting citrus cultivars.

One thing’s become clear: the Taroccos from Sicily still have our hearts. The flavour is simply unmatched.

We’re planning trips to Sicily to meet growers, taste new cultivars, and hopefully bring some special new varieties to Bergsoom. It’s all part of our mission to create a little piece of Italy in South Africa 💙🍊🇮🇹

Sweet, low in acid, and full of flavour, Taroccos have a natural balance that makes them incredibly easy to eat. Their flesh ranges from golden to deep blush, thanks to cold nights we experience in Citrusdal during ripening.
