One year of Blue Zoo Cafe Food at Home!

From a simple empty space to the beautiful place we call home today, what an incredible journey it has been. Over the past year we’ve shared homemade meals, sweet treats, pantry favourites, unique finds, and so many special moments with our community.

None of this would have been possible without your support, and we know Larry has been with us every step of the way. His spirit continues to inspire everything we do, and we hope we’ve made him proud.

Meet Nikki, the owner and creator of Blue Zoo, cafe food at home.

Cooking has always been something she has loved. As a mother of three, she spent many wonderful years alongside her husband owning and running their restaurant together, sharing their love for good food, great company, and bringing people together around the table.

Although the restaurant eventually closed, she continued catering from home, keeping that passion alive through every meal she prepared. After losing her husband two years ago, she found the strength and inspiration to open this intimate food store in his honour, a space filled with love, warmth, homemade meals, and the joy of sharing food with others, just as they always dreamed of doing together.

Her late husband’s well known phrase, “Happy as Larry,” has since become part of the heart and branding of the store, carrying his spirit and joy into everything she does.

Every dish is prepared with love and care, with the hope of welcoming every customer like family, creating comfort through food, and continuing to build something that would make him proud.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
