Shiraz SA The Official association for all South African producers and aficionados of Shiraz. It is a variety that is not just limited to certain growing areas.

Shiraz SA is a relatively young organisation as it was only launched as recently as 2008. The Shiraz Forum that existed before 2008 focused mainly on technical workshops and occasional wine tastings. These days Shiraz SA is not just the official mouthpiece for producers of Shiraz in South Africa, but also presents events and activities aimed at establishing awareness for the many different styles

and interpretations of Shiraz. It can be found in all the South African wine regions and is the one cultivar that has shown a remarkable growth in terms of plantings, new brands and entries at wine shows and competitions. Apart from the many single cultivar wines found in the market place, South African Shiraz is also renowned for the vast number of blends it is utilized in.

🍷🏆 2026 SHIRAZ SA CHALLENGE ENTRIES OPEN 🏆🍷

Shiraz SA herewith extends an invitation to all producers of Shiraz to submit their entries for the 2026 “Shiraz SA Wine Challenge”, presented for the fourteenth time with the support of Fermentis By Lesaffre.

As in the past, twelve local Shiraz wines, 5 Shiraz blends and 1 Shiraz rosé wine will be selected as winners.

COLLABORATION WITH SAUVIGNON BLANC SA

Dear Members,
We are pleased to inform you that Shiraz SA has entered into a formal collaboration agreement with Sauvignon Blanc SA, an organisation that shares our values and objectives.

This agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the two organisations, with the aim of strengthening our respective activities, sharing expertise and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives where appropriate. While both organisations will continue to operate independently, we believe that this partnership will not only strengthen our work and broaden our reach but bring the additional benefits of saving costs.

Reinette Basson ([email protected]) will act as office manager, taking over the financial and administrative tasks from Sandra Lotz, who will co-ordinate all other activities.

Further details regarding specific collaborative activities and events will be communicated to members as they are developed. We are confident that this agreement represents a positive step forward and will bring meaningful benefits to our members.
