Lots of Dandelions?

Let's make Dandelion Petal tea.

1. Pick all the yellow Dandelion flowers.
2. Remove all the yellow petals.
3. Dry the petals for longer storage or use fresh.
4. Soak in boiling water for 5-10 minutes and enjoy as is or with a bot of honey.

Benefits of Dandelion petal tea?

It's rich in antioxidants, supports immune health, reduces I flamation in the body, supports gentle digestion.

Did you know, we can also use the leaves and roots of the dandelion to make tea?

Tip of the week!

When planting carrots or onions (Any plant with small seeds actually), mix the seeds with sand before sowing in the ground. That way, you will need to thin your carrons/onions less, because the sand crates more spacing between each seed!

When planting Carrots, also cover your seeds with a shade cloth untill the first leaves appear. This helps keep the seeds moist and keeps the birds away, for a bigger crop ✌🏻

If you missed it, we left the countryside and moved back to the suburbs... we also moved our chickens with us and decided to continue with the Green Fig, but on a smaller scale.

Join me this spring, to see what we can grow in our new 5x5m vegetable patch and a couple of pots!

Same Fig, new challange and hopefully an inspiration to those following along who also happen to live in the suburbs.

Moving to the suburbs has made us even more industrious, if you can believe it! Our neighbours with gardens and compost heaps are now lining up for our fresh chicken p**p every week when I clean the coop...

By the sound of things, this is going to be a very hot and unforgiving summer. I therefore chose a spot in the garden that gives me full sun all morning and semi shade in the afternoon, giving my vegetables that much needed break from the scorching sun... We are also in the process of setting up a rain water system.

Noting like a blank canvas for inspiration too!
