Two people living with HIV have gone extended periods without daily treatment after receiving an experimental one-time cell therapy, with one maintaining viral control for nearly two years, in a major trial from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
If larger trials confirm these early results, the therapy could offer a new way to control HIV without daily pills and potentially move researchers closer to long-term HIV remission.
