Today is Throwback Thursday, and 10 years ago, today, Ceres Rail ran its first mainline trip from Ceres to Cape Town Harbour and return.
Why from Ceres to Cape Town and not the other way around? Well, Ceres is where the train was based all those years ago. At the time, our main locomotive was No 3321, and on this day hauled 4 coaches under the control of Driver Cassie Carstens and fireman Brett Radloff.
Now all we have to do is get 3321 back into service again - she is still stuck in Ceres, hemmed in by the landslide that cut her off from the rest of the network.
Were you on this trip?
