Garden Day prep is in full swing here, and we keep stopping mid task just to look around.

There's a whole tasting menu coming together with Allée Bleue, and every corner of the farm is getting ready for people to walk through it.

This is the one day I open the whole garden up properly. Wander the beds, spend the afternoon with a glass of w**e in hand, and share good food under the trees with people you love.

Flowers are my thing… the lawn is usually my husband’s department! But a picnic blanket and some ch*****ne under these beautiful trees? That I know all about.

Guano Boost kindly sent us their grass seed mix to try in this shady spot, and look at the results! I’m taking you through exactly how we planted it, how quickly it sprouted and how it’s grown.

This was my very first spring in this new field, so watching it come alive has felt particularly special.

And then, just as quickly, spring started making her exit. Last Monday’s storm brought the season to an end a little sooner than I expected, taking quite a bit of the field with her.

But before she left, we got one more very beautiful moment.

Another yes, right here amongst the flowers.

I think that will always be one of the greatest joys of sharing this space. I have spent so much time growing it, worrying over it, learning from it and watching every little thing come into bloom, but then people arrive and begin attaching their own memories to it too.

A birthday. A gathering. A quiet afternoon. A celebration.

And sometimes, a question that changes everything.

Being allowed to become a tiny part of someone else’s story in this field feels incredibly precious. Especially when the answer is yes.

My first spring here gave me more than I could have hoped for. And I have a feeling this little field has many more stories still to grow.

A little Sunday reminder from the garden: experienced gardeners have killed plants too. We have simply developed more specific explanations for what happened.

Too much water. Not enough water. Planted too early. Planted too late. Put it in the wrong place. Forgot what we planted because apparently optimism is still not a labelling system.

The difference between a beginner and an experienced gardener is not that nothing dies. It is that we learn, adjust, plant again and occasionally turn the evidence into compost.

The garden does not require perfection. It simply keeps offering us another season to try again.

We are setting a very special table in the garden…
This Garden Day, we are bringing together so many of the things I love about Femme Pétale: flowers, beautiful food, good w**e and the simple pleasure of gathering around a table.

The Celebration Garden Table will be a leisurely afternoon amongst the flowers, with four Allée Bleue w**es, four seasonal food pairings and a generous central harvest table filled with artisan breads, flavoured butters, local cheese, olives, dips, preserves and garden-inspired accompaniments.

Every guest will also receive a summer seed pack and biodegradable planting tray to take a little piece of the garden home.
Today, we are beginning with the table. Choosing the flowers, layering the textures and imagining all of you gathered around it.

I’ll happily stop everything to inspect a tiny change on a leaf. A change on my own body deserves at least as much attention.

Many of you know I had melanoma. Finding it early saved my life. Quite literally. It’s one of the reasons I chose to grow flowers organically, and why I talk about it so openly.

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month coming up, I want to add my voice to the reminder to check yourself. I haven’t had breast cancer, but I know how much it matters to notice a change and get it checked. Please don’t put it off because life is busy or because you think it’s probably nothing.

Check your breasts. Check your skin. Listen when your body tells you something has changed. Make the appointment.

I’m very glad I did. I’d like you here for many more flower seasons too.

Sea holly is coming.

I’m potting up a small batch of rooted Eryngium plants, ready to be sent out to their new gardens soon.

This is such a brilliant perennial. It loves sun and well-drained soil, is drought tolerant once established, and those incredible blue-grey flower heads are also fantastic for pollinators.

For floral design, it is a dream. Texture, structure and that slightly wild spiky shape work beautifully with dahlias, roses, grasses and softer fillers. It also has a great vase life when harvested on strong stems once the heads have coloured up.

And possibly my favourite part? It dries beautifully. Cut while still looking fresh, hang upside down somewhere dry, dark and ventilated, and use it later in wreaths, installations and everlasting arrangements.

Perennial. Pollinator friendly. Cut flower. Dried flower.

She really does earn her place in the garden.

A beautiful table beneath the trees, four wonderful w**es, seasonal food and an afternoon made for lingering.

Join us at Femme Pétale Flower Farm for our Celebration Garden Table on Garden Day.

We will begin with Allée Bleue Brut Rosé MCC before enjoying a guided tasting of Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé and Pinotage, each paired with its own canapé-style bite.

At the centre of the table will be a generous harvest spread filled with artisan breads, flavoured butters, olive oil, marinated olives, local cheese, hummus, herb pesto, preserves, pickles and seasonal garden accompaniments.

Every guest will also take home a summer seed pack and biodegradable growing tray, because no Garden Day should end without something new to plant.
