South Africa Fuel Price Update 2025 : The greatest news would have to be the announcement of a price reduction of R2.75 per litre, effective from 4 October 2025, thereby applying to all fuels. This price reduction is welcome because transport and goods costs are a heavy burden on family budgets and business operations alike.

The Reason For A Giant Dropping In Fuel Oil Prices
A combination of falling global oil prices and a stronger rand has empowered the authorities to push down fuel price levels. What analysts presume is that whenever crude oil gets cheaper in the international market, and the currency gets back on its feet somehow, import costs drop as does fuel prices; hence, relief goes down into the economy alongside the pump price for South Africa.

Indian generic drugmakers — Hetero and Dr Reddy’s — will be funded by the Gates Foundation and Unitaid, respectively, to produce and sell the twice-a-year anti-HIV shot, lenacapavir, for $40 (around R692) per person per year.

That price is about the same as what it costs to stop HIV-negative people from contracting the virus by taking a daily HIV prevention pill, which is stocked for free in most government clinics in South Africa.

The price of the daily pill is mostly what the health department’s essential medicines list committee, which decides if a drug is cost-effective to buy, uses as a benchmark to compare the cost of newer HIV prevention medicine to.

The country’s regulator, the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority, Sahpra, is expected to register lenacapavir by November 26 at the latest.

This young father was left by his wife to struggle alone with their baby. With no one at home to help, he goes out daily to hustle with his baby tucked under his jacket because he couldn't bear the thought of leaving him at home all by himself.

He said " At first I used to zip up my jacket so people won't notice the child. Later, they realised I was carrying a baby with me. Some even went as far as calling the police on me."

Now kindly suggest possible reason why a woman should do this.

Breaking News: Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Announce Withdrawal from ICC

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger declared on Monday, September 22, that they are withdrawing from the International Criminal Court (ICC) with immediate effect. The coordinated announcement, made in Bamako, Niamey and Ouagadougou, marks a joint decision by the three members of the Alliance of Sahel States, all currently led by military leaders.

In a statement, the three governments accused the ICC of applying "selective justice" and serving as an instrument of "neocolonial repression." The move comes months after the bloc announced plans to create its own Criminal and Human Rights Court and a regional high-security prison to handle terrorism and serious crimes in the Sahel.

South Africa’s Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has been quiet about its February 2022 proposal to implement a blanket 10km/h speed limit reduction on the country’s roads.

The Department of Transport-managed entity’s proposal would reduce the residential speed limit to 50km/h and highway speed limits to 110km/h.

Given the lack of updates, MyBroadband asked the RTMC if the speed limit reduction was still under consideration or if the proposal had been scrapped, but it hadn’t answered our questions by publication.

The speed limit reduction was one of several proposals the entity made while presenting its 365 Campaign before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Transport.

South Africa Electricity Laws 2025 : In 2025, major reforms are set for the energy sector in South Africa. New electricity laws are expected to reshape power generation, distribution, and consumption within the country. The reforms, broadly speaking, aim at strengthening the reliability of the national grid, lessening on Eskom, and giving consumers-the people and businesses-software control over what they use in electricity.

The State has turned against its own witness in the Phala Phala burglary trial, accusing the man of being uncooperative.

The man, who cannot be named, allegedly transported some of the Phala Phala burglars from Limpopo to Gauteng, a day after the robbery.

Three people are currently on trial at the Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo for breaking into and stealing $580,000 in cash from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm in February 2020.

The State said the driver’s testimony yesterday (Wednesday) was inconsistent with a police statement he gave earlier.

State prosecutor Nkhetheni Munyai said the driver gave improper testimony of how much money he was paid by the alleged robbers, where exactly he drove them to and his relationship with one of the accused.
