This week we’re learning the 4 simple steps of wine tasting:

Although it was only a brief surprise visit and he has already left, it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of South Africa’s leading winemakers and his remarkable wines.

We are proud to showcase the exceptional wines of Coenie Snyman, named Diners Club Winemaker of the Year 2025 for his outstanding Rock of Eye Cabernet Sauvignon. This prestigious achievement confirms his place among South Africa’s finest winemakers.

The name Rock of Eye comes from an old tailoring expression describing a master craftsman’s ability to create something perfectly balanced without measuring—simply by instinct, experience and skill. Coenie applies this same philosophy to winemaking, trusting his trained eye and decades of experience to craft wines that truly express their terroir.

Born and raised in Stellenbosch, Coenie has spent more than 30 years perfecting his craft. His wines reflect the unique character of the Cape winelands, combining science, artistry and intuition in every bottle.
