Our Bakoena Solutions team was busy clearing recyclable bottles and cans in the VIP tent at the afterglow of the  event at Soweto Equestrian Centre this morning.

While we were sorting the waste, we found something that clearly doesn’t belong in a recycling bin, a pair of spectacles.

We know these could have high sentimental or functional value, and someone is likely looking for them!

To the owner: We aren’t posting a photo to make sure they go to the right person. If you lost your glasses, please DM us with a quick description (colour, shape, or brand) so we can reunite you with them. 🤝♻️

That can in the photo? It’s got infinite lives. If you recycle it right now, it can be melted, reinvented, and be back on the shelf in 60 days. Let’s be real, that’s a faster turnaround than your favorite rapper’s next album launch.

A huge thank you to Ashlee and her amazing team at Uncle Jim’s Pub & Diner for partnering with us and showing what environmental leadership looks like in action. 🙌

Thanks to their commitment, over 550 aluminium beverage cans have now been diverted from landfills and that makes a real difference.

🌍 Here’s what that means:

✔️ Enough energy saved to power a laptop for 1,600+ hours
✔️ Around 54 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided
✔️ Fewer cans in landfill (where aluminium can take 200+ years to break down)
✔️ Less demand for mining raw materials
