Stop sanitising your life. Your immune system is starving for dirt.

We’ve gotten really into being clean lately.

We wash our vegetables until they sparkle, sanitise our hands throughout the day, and eat foods that are as processed and “safe” as possible.

But here’s something interesting…

Our bodies actually need some exposure to the natural world.

There’s a concept called the Hygiene Hypothesis, which suggests that when we avoid dirt, soil, and natural environments, our gut microbiome loses diversity, which can affect everything from our immune system to our mood.

(And fun fact: a lot of our serotonin, our “feel good” hormone, is produced in the gut!)
