Night of Mystery, Wine & Art 🎨🍷

Last thursday night, hosted a truly exceptional evening at Royal Blue Lounge Cafe with MarK Norrish, an aficionado of South African wine.

Under the stunning skies of Mossel Bay, surrounded by Johan Stadler’s art and the warm glow of Stadl Art, we embarked on a blind wine tasting that was equal parts challenge, delight and education.

Each guest brought their favourite South African wine. Our mission? Guess its region, varietal and vintage.

The line‑up was formidable: Glenwood Syrah Grand Duchess 2015… Le Sueur Paradoks 2019… Vagabond 2020 by Fledge & Co… Arendsig Shiraz Blok A12 2023… The Mackenzie by Hartenberg 2017… Fernskloof Tinta Barocca 2022… Leopards Leap Shiraz‑Mourvèdre‑Viognier 2006… Raka Sangiovese… Steenberg Catharina 2007... Benguela Cove Chardonnay 2024.

As the evening progressed, so did our noses, palates and confidence. With Marc sharing tips, tricks and stories, guesses became sharper, identifications more precise.

The food? Beyond expectations. Beautifully paired canapés—beef, chicken and plenty of vegetarian options—each bite a new surprise.

Thank you to Johan & Vivien Stadler for hosting us in their magical space, and to everyone who brought wine, passion, laughter. These are the nights that remind us why we love wine.
