Meet our new Red release, the Glansgruis Carignan.

And yes… we finally got the w**emaker in front of the camera to tell you about it.

Glansgruis — meaning “shiny gravel” or “lustrous grit” — is a name that speaks to the place behind the w**e: a heritage vineyard with its own character, history and low unmistakable sense of place.

In this video, Joshua shares more about the Carignan and why it’s the kind of w**e that w**e enthusiasts will look forward to discovering.

For Van Blommestein, it’s about finding vineyards with stories worth telling and capturing their uniqueness in a bottle.

The story behind the w**e🍷

We’re incredibly proud to share this feature on our w**emaker and founder, Joshua van Blommestein, in the August 2026 edition of W**eland.

From growing up far from the Cape W**elands, to discovering his passion for w**emaking as a teenager, studying viticulture and oenology, and gaining experience across some of South Africa’s w**e estates — Joshua’s journey has always been about understanding the relationship between w**e and place.

Today, that philosophy sits at the heart of Van Blommestein W**es.

For Joshua, every w**e should tell the story of where it comes from — the soil, the stones, the wind, the climate and the people behind the vineyard.

Our w**es are small in scale, personal in character, and made with a deep respect for terroir and a true sense of place.

Thank you to W**eland and Ingerése Schoeman for telling Joshua’s story and giving a glimpse into the journey behind the bottle.

Receiving praise from one of the w**e world's most respected critics is a milestone we're incredibly proud of.

Greg Sherwood MW recently reviewed our Klipdans Colombar 2025, describing it as "another exciting new young gun producer" and awarding the w**e an impressive 93+ points. He praised its purity, freshness and beautiful expression of the Breedekloof terroir.

As a young w**e brand, this recognition is both humbling and encouraging. It's a testament to our passion for crafting authentic w**es that reflect the heritage vineyards we want to tell stories about.
