Farm assistant or Junior Farm assistant
Location: Mushindamo, Solwezi (30km from Solwezi town)
Kashimi Farms, Solwezi, is a farm focused on tree crops. Kashimi Farms is looking for a farm assistant to join our team. The assistant would report to the farm supervisor and would have a range of duties including the following:
• Maintaining the orderliness of orchards including transplanting, weeding, thinning and pruning of crops
• Irrigation and pesticides and fertilizers application when required
• Fruit harvesting
• Orchard scouting and monitoring of general health of crops
• Reporting of daily activities to supervisor
The assistant is expected to live at the farm in Solwezi, and therefore must be comfortable living in a rural area. Assistants are expected to attend training from time to time.
Necessary Skills & Qualifications:
A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn and grow with the business are key. The individual should be willing to embrace organic farming principles. In addition, the below are necessary skills
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Team player
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good time management skills
• Good people skills, able to maintain relationships within the community
• Grade 12 or equivalent
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
• An agriculture qualification would be desirable but not a requirement
Salary: Negotiable.
