We had a very successful training in Sekelela.

5 HONEY BEE HIVE INSPECTION TIPS
1. Pick the right time to inspect
Choose a time when the weather is warm and sunny, and the bees are active. Avoid inspecting when it's raining, windy, or cold, as the bees may be agitated and less cooperative.
2. Wear protective gear
Always wear appropriate protective gear when inspecting your bee hive, including a veil, beekeeping suit or jacket, and gloves. This will protect you from stings and minimize the risk of aggravating the bees.
3. Use a smoker
Before opening the hive, use a smoker to calm the bees. A smoker produces cool, white smoke that interferes with the bees' communication system, making them less likely to sting or become agitated.
4. Be gentle and careful
When inspecting the hive, move slowly and carefully to avoid crushing or injuring the bees. Use a hive tool to gently pry apart frames and avoid making sudden movements or loud noises.
5. Look for signs of health and productivity
During the inspection, look for signs of a healthy and productive hive, such as the presence of eggs, larvae, and capped brood, as well as a good honey and pollen supply. Check for any signs of disease or pests, such as abnormal brood patterns, dead bees, or strange odors. If you notice any issues, consult an experienced beekeeper or a local beekeeping association for advice on how to address them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
1. How safe are bees when harvesting bee venom?
Beekeepers should know how many times, at what time and weather, and what level of electricity to use while collecting bee venom. Big experience and special knowledge is necessary in order to collect bee venom and not causing harm to bees. Bees’ health is the most important for us, as only healthy bees can grant us strong, high activity of bee venom powder.
2. How much bee venom can be collected from one hive?
It depends on several circumstances: collectors, how strong and healthy bees are, how many bees are there in the hive and when one is harvesting bee venom. On average, beekeepers take 0.3-0.7 grams of bee venom powder from each hive.
3. Can anyone use bee venom powder for producing any cosmetic or apitherapy product?
No. It is highly advised that if a person is not a professional pharmacist, cosmetologist, apitherapy doctor or researcher, it is not recommended to use bee venom in any purpose. It is because, if somebody has allergy on bee venom, it may suffocate just in moment after opening up the roof of the bottle. One must be professional to use it.
4. Does the color of bee venom define the quality of bee venom?
Yes and no. Color is not a measure of quality. Color maybe pale gray, human skin color, light yellow and brownish. It depends on the technique of harvesting, time of harvesting and race of bees. However, if bee venom is 5 or more years old, it becomes dark brown, because of the damaged cells of proteins and enzymes.

Today, Savannah Honey Processing Limited successfully conducted a highly impactful Modern Beekeeping Training in Lusaka, under the leadership of Mr. Kyalo Mutua. The training brought together a large number of participants from different sectors, including farmer groups, youth groups, cooperatives, NGOs, community organizations, and aspiring beekeepers all eager to learn modern and sustainable beekeeping practices.
