Bwinjinfumu bwakashimisha mulilo

Meaning: “Too many leaders put out the fire.”

It comes from a story in history when fire wasn’t easy to make and people had to continuously add firewood for the fire to keep going.

So History has it that, when the Soli tribe who lived in modern day northmead were attacked by the Lozis and abducted their children and women ; the Solj men followed the attackers to rescue the women and children, they left the headmen back and when they came back, they found the fire had died out hence

The reason why the headmen who were the only ones left in the villages didn’t bother to add wood to the fire can be that, they were too proud to do the job or that they didn’t know as this was the job of the commoners.

The lessons we can pick up from this story is that everyone’s role in a village matters and is important for the survival and progress of the village

There is a place just outside Lusaka where time slows down. We want to show it to you.

For a moment, imagine driving just a little outside the city. The noise fades. The huts come into view thatch roofs catching the last light of the evening sun.

Children laugh somewhere in the distance. A fire is being prepared. Someone is stirring something that smells like home.

This is Twaala Village Farm Camp. We didn't build something new. We restored something old.

We want you to come and experience the Zambia that still exists — quiet, beautiful, and deeply alive.

The importance of culture, customs and traditions cant be emphasized enough ! It’s always been one of the ways of passing down centuries of information between generations. If one chooses to practice them is entirely dependent but just like any in society, there’s both good and bad.

In the Soli people of Mpanshya area where Twaala Village is , Dances and songs have a meaning, purpose, season and importance. Messages and encouragement were all delivered in songs.

Here we’ve our cultural Soli group that teaches our guests dances, storytelling and performances of the Soli people of Mpanshya area.

Our Rufunsa is adding some new features

During the hiking and Village walk excursion, we got to see new roads being graded and built.

One fun fact is that Rufunsa borders both Luangwa and lower Zambezi National park and part of central Rufunsa was a Game management Area a few decades ago, however now the GMA (Game management Area has moved and located in Shikabeta chiefdom where a variety of wild life can be found.

There’s a road being built that is said to connect Rufunsa and Great East Road to Kapiri to cut shorter road distances and perhaps traffic

We sure hope this is true and this means, in the near future, we might be able to travel to see wild life.

The road in particular isnt the road that is said to lead to Kapiri but another road being upgraded in the villagesge
