THE RACE IS NOT ALWAYS TO THE SWIFT
Text: Ecclesiastes 9:11
"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong... but time and chance happeneth to them all." (Ecclesiastes 9:11, KJV)

The recent exit of Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal from the 2026 FIFA World Cup is a powerful illustration of this Scripture. Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers in history, known for his speed, discipline, talent, determination, and consistency. Yet despite all his ability and experience, Portugal was eliminated by Spain in the Round of 16.
This does not diminish Ronaldo's greatness. Instead, it reminds us that life is not won by talent alone, strength alone, or speed alone. Even the strongest, the fastest, and the most experienced can experience defeat.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 teaches us that success is not guaranteed by human ability. God's timing, His purpose, and the circumstances He allows all play a role. Sometimes those who appear to have every advantage do not finish first, while those who remain faithful and endure eventually receive the victory.
Ronaldo's World Cup journey reminds us that:
Greatness does not exempt anyone from disappointment.
One defeat does not erase a lifetime of achievement.
Your value is not determined by one result.
Keep running your race faithfully because God has the final say.
Just as Ronaldo's exit did not erase his legacy, your current setback does not erase God's purpose for your life. A closed door today does not mean your destiny has ended. A delayed answer does not mean God has forgotten you.
Therefore, never compare your journey with someone else's. If your progress seems slow, remember: the race is not always to the swift. Continue trusting God, remain faithful, and keep moving forward. In God's perfect time, He will bring you to the finish line He has prepared for you.
