🥛 NOW IS THE TIME FOR ZIMBABWE’S FARMER-LED MILK REVOLUTION
Varun Beverages Zimbabwe’s vision for a Milk Revolution is aligned with Vision 2030. Rural economic development is essential for Zimbabwe’s overall growth and its journey towards an empowered upper-middle-income economy.
Zimbabwe’s annual milk consumption is estimated at less than 10 litres per person, compared with an African average of approximately 40 litres.
This substantial gap presents an opportunity to improve nutrition, expand domestic dairy production and create dependable incomes for rural communities.
A farmer-centred dairy model can connect small-scale producers with:
âś… Assured and transparent milk procurement
âś… Regular and timely payments
âś… Veterinary care and improved dairy breeds
âś… Feed support and modern farming practices
âś… Village milk-collection and chilling centres
âś… Quality testing, traceability and market access
Zimbabwe can build its own dairy-development model—designed around the country’s farmers, agricultural conditions, communities and national priorities.
INVESTING IN LOCAL VALUE CREATION
Varun Beverages Zimbabwe, together with its holding company R.J. Corp and partner companies, is exploring and developing long-term investment opportunities across beverages, dairy and juice processing, local snack manufacturing, renewable solar energy, PET-plastic recycling, tourism and other value-adding sectors.
Within this broader investment vision, Varun Beverages Zimbabwe desires to support an integrated dairy ecosystem connecting farmers with milk collection, chilling, processing, technology, product development and markets.
The objective should extend beyond establishing another dairy factory. Zimbabwe needs a complete farm-to-consumer ecosystem capable of producing affordable milk, yoghurt, dairy beverages, butter, cheese and nutritional products.
Every litre of locally collected milk can contribute to:
👨‍🌾 Income for rural families
🥛 Better access to nutritious dairy products
👩‍💼 Opportunities for women and young farmers
🏠Employment and domestic value addition
đź’µ Reduced import dependence and conserved foreign currency
Farmers, financial institutions, development organisations, technical partners and industry can work together to build a professionally managed, inclusive and sustainable dairy sector.
Let us build Zimbabwe’s Milk Revolution—from the farmer to every family, and from rural development to national prosperity.
