Iwe woshora 😁😁 Today we harvested from one of our blocks planted with the new Avanos Seeds Covo (Rugare) variety. On the pictures just a sample of the harvest. This marks our second harvest, just one month after transplanting.

We are running a comparison against our local Viscos covo, with both varieties grown on almost equal block sizes under the same management conditions. As you can see this block is a stony field it was on purpose we have another block not on the stony field.

So far, with the Rugare variety, we are averaging 3–4 leaves per plant per harvest. During the first harvest, the leaves were slightly smaller, which showed that this variety responds well to frequent pruning. After pruning, the second flush produced bigger leaves that are more market-friendly.

From this block, we harvested 18 bundles, each weighing approximately 800 g. We will see how performance holds when we harvest again on Monday.

Overall, the results so far are promising, giving us valuable insights into growth, regrowth, and yield potential. More updates coming as the trial continues πŸ’ͺ🏾🌿

Next post, I’ll share observations from the market side.
