NEWCASTLE DISEASE
As S.A.GPROJECTSagriculture, we care for the health of the chicks we sell to you even well after we dispatch them to our customers, therefore the need to educate on how to prevent diseases from attacking our flocks . Today ,we will be teaching on how to prevent our chickens from contracting the deadly NEWCASTLE DISEASE.
SYMPTOMS
👉ND is highly contagious, meaning it can quickly spread from one bird to another
👉ND causes respiratory,nervous, and digestive system issues
👉ND symptoms include coughing,paralysis, gasping,nasal discharge,tremors,drooping wings ,twisting of the head ,loss of appetite,watery green diarrhoea and sudden death .
👉ND can lead to drop in egg production or malformed eggs .
TRANSMISSION
👉Direct contact with infected birds
👉Faeces from infected birds
👉Respiratory fluids from infected birds
👉Contaminated food ,water ,equipment, and clothes
👉Aerosol transmission (contaminated particles in the air )
CONTROL
👉Strict biosecurity measures on your farm and coops
👉Isolation of infected birds or better of killing them
👉Maintain a dry environment as the disease thrives in moisture
👉Regularly use disinfectant to clean equipment and coops
PREVENTION
👉Vaccinate all birds on time using the correct dilution ratios and correct vaccination method
VACCINATION
👉Day 10
👉8weeks
👉12weeks
👉16weeks
👉Repeat every 8 weeks from Point of lay
👉Vaccine names include Nobilis ND Clone 30,Cevac New L, and Lasota, amongst others, varying by brand name by manufacturer .
