Special Appreciation for Outstanding Emirates Cabin Crew Member – Flight EK764

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for one of the flight attendants who provided exceptional service to my children on our recent Emirates flight.

Flight details:
Flight: EK764
Route: O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), Johannesburg → Dubai International Airport (DXB)
Departure: Friday, 28 August 2026 at 19:10
Arrival: Saturday, 29 August 2026 at 05:25
Aircraft: Airbus A380-800
Cabin: Economy / Flex

Unfortunately, I did not get her name, but I have attached her picture in the hope that Emirates can identify her.

She was truly exceptional. She went above and beyond her normal duties to make my children's flight comfortable, exciting, and very special. Her kindness, patience, warmth, and genuine care stood out throughout the journey.

She did not simply provide excellent service—she created a wonderful experience that my children will remember for a very long time.

A very grateful parent and family

Unpacking still in progress.

Ladies, if you wish to visit the UAE (Dubai / Abu Dhabi) 🇦🇪 from South Africa 🇿🇦, as long as you bring some of these, I will host you for free for the duration of your stay 😂.

Some people, in the comment section have been asking how do I bring food staff to UAE from South Africa. As long as it's not banned substances or there is no outbreak of animal or plant disease, you can bring anything as long as it's for family consumption and not meant for commercial or financial gains.

When bringing meat items, ask the shop to vaccum seal it and just freeze it at home and pack it in those bags meant to keep it cold and water tight in case it melts. When you arrive, just tell the officers that you have food staff and ask them if there is need to declare, they will wave you to go on.

😂😂 I managed to squeeze it in as well 😂😂😝😝

Magunanzi (Good or delicious staff) from Zimbabwe. This is the same as a amasi or inkomazi in 🇿🇦. If you haven’t tasted the 🇿🇼 one, you are missing out.

“I was born in the ghetto
My mama is in the ghetto
My heart is in the ghetto
You can call me the ghetto boy
You can take me out of the ghetto
And can never take me back again
But you will never take the ghetto out of me” Oliver Mtukudzi.

This combo is always part of the list of things to bring back from home 🇿🇦.

Traveling can be challenging but more challenging as a family whilst having passports from different countries.

1. Some immigration officers still don't understand that people from different countries can be married 😀😀. They still don't know that love knows or see no borders.

2. If you have dual nationality, meaning you have two passports from two different countries, suppose one of those passports is from South Africa because you are a citizen, and you got another one through marriage or staying in that country for minimum required time, when leaving or arriving in 🇿🇦, you can only use South African passport and some countries where you got your passports from, will only allow you to leave or arrive using their passport only, meaning you travel with both of them.

3. When you arrive in 🇿🇦 as a family, suppose your husband or wife is holding a foreign passport and they don't have permit or permanent resident in 🇿🇦, you will have your passports stamped at two separate counters,as there is a counter for citizens and permanent residents or permit holders and there is a separate counter for other passports mostly those on visit visors and that counter line is very long.

4. The most challenging one is 🇿🇦 passport has more countries where visa is not required or it's easy to obtain visa, whereas Ministers passport gets less countries, so even if we want to visit a certain country, we have to get visa for Minister first. What ever place we want to visit, we have to think of Ministers passport first. A good example, we wanted to visit the USA, as South African passport holders, getting visas was easy, yet the Minister's visa was rejected. Mind you, he has been to the USA before but this time they rejected his visa.

5. This one has nothing to do with the passport type, but if one parent is travelling outside 🇿🇦 with children, the other parent who is not travelling, must sign an affidavit, giving the other parent permission to travel with kids. Even if both parents are travelling together, they must carry children's birth certificates and marriage certificate and handover to the immigration officers. This is meant to curb unauthorized child movement. This is a very good initiative.

6. By the way, South Africa allows dual citizenship. Meaning if one parent is from South Africa, a citizen, the child automatically is South African and they can, if they want, also have the citizenship of the other parent, hence dual citizenship.

7. In other countries, I have heard people, asking my fellow South Africans, who are not black, "Why are you South African when you are not black". I don't know who told people that South Africans are only black.

8. Others, especially from the so called developed world or leaders of this world, think Africa is one country compressed into a village. When you say you are from South Africa or Zimbabwe, they don't understand. They want you to say I'm from Africa, then they smile, get excited and start asking questions like, "Oh yeah, I have a friend, in Ghana, do you know them?". They think Africa is a village and we meet everyone whilst fetching water in a community well. Travelling will make you question the education standards of these so-called leaders of this world.

Back in Abu Dhabi safe. We flew via Dubai. Now it’s time to upack.

Someone was asking how we carry all these bags. You will never go wrong with Emirates as each person have luggage of two bags totaling 46kgs (23kgs each bag) and a carry bag totaling 7kg, excluding handbags 👜 or laptop bag which are not affected by any weight limits. So each person has 53kgs. I’m sure in business and first class they even have more luggage allowance.
