On Chuseok, Koreans celebrate under the full moon — but eat half-moon-shaped Songpyeon. 🌕🥮
Have you ever wondered why? 🤔
Chuseok is one of Korea’s biggest traditional holidays, celebrating the autumn harvest.
Families traditionally make Songpyeon with freshly harvested rice to give thanks for the harvest and share with loved ones. 🌾
Its half-moon shape has long been associated with a moon that is still growing — symbolizing growth and hopes for a better future. ✨
Filled with sesame, beans, or chestnuts and steamed over fragrant pine needles, Songpyeon is more than just a rice cake.
