Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the ‘Cœur de Vallée’ vineyard is situated in the world-renowned Oakville appellation, in the heart of the Napa Valley. The beautiful view of Mount Saint John is a reminder of the alluvial fan that provided the well-draining soil, comprised of 40 to 60% of gravel. It is the confluence of the amazing pedigree of surrounding properties and the alluvial material originating from the Mayacamas Range that makes this vineyard so special. Handcrafted using classical winemaking techniques, this wine is named after its vineyard namesake. It is ‘Heart of the Valley’ or ‘Cœur de Vallée.’

Domaine Paul Pernot is one of Puligny-Montrachet’s leading estates, alongside Domaine Leflaive, with 22 hectares in the Côte de Beaune, including 14 hectares in Puligny-Montrachet and holdings in Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. Established by Paul Pernot in the 1950s, the family domaine has grown over seven generations and is now managed by three generations, with Paul Pernot (senior) still guiding its classic, consistent style.

Most of the estate’s production (around 80%) is sold to Joseph Drouhin under a long-standing contract. The vineyards feature many old vines planted in the 1950s and 1960s, and the family follows sustainable practices, avoiding herbicides and using moderate oak to preserve freshness and balance.

The wines are known for their creamy texture, minerality, generous fruit, and excellent ageing potential. A 1999 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet tasted in Burgundy showcased remarkable complexity, with toasty notes, richness, vibrant acidity, and exceptional balance.
