Many factors affect the color of water, including high concentrations of organic matter, waterborne particles, presence of elemental ions and organic dyes, acidity level, and lighting intensity.

Water color is expressed in Hazen units and measured on the platinum-cobalt scale, where pond water can reach 50 units. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a limit that drinking water should not exceed 5 units, with a maximum limit of 20 units on the scale.

تؤثر العديد من العوامل على لون المياه ومنها: التركيز العالي للمواد العضوية، والعوالق المائية، ووجود الأيونات العنصرية والصبغات العضوية، ودرجة الحموضة، ودرجة الإضاءة على شدة اللون في المياه.

يتم التعبير عن لون المياه بوحدات Hazen ويتم قياسها بمقياس كوبلت-بلاتين (platinum-cobalt method)، حيث إن مياه المستنقعات تصل إلى 50 وحدة. وقد حددت منظمة الصحة العالمية (WHO) أن مياه الشرب يجب أن لا تتجاوز 5 وحدات، والحد الأقصى لها 20 وحدة على المقياس.

تقوم أنظمة تنقية وتحلية المياه بمعالجة المياه وتصفيتها من جميع هذه العوامل التي تؤثر على لون الماء وتجعلها مناسبة للاستخدام وذات لون صافٍ كما يجب.

Ultrafiltration (UF) is an effective water purification technique that utilizes a membrane with very small pores ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 micrometers. It filters out fine particles and organic matter while allowing water to pass through at a pressure of less than 2 bars. This technology is efficient in removing bacteria, viruses, fine sediments, and works in conjunction with reverse osmosis water purification systems. It is used in desalination, drinking water purification, and other industrial applications. It is a sustainable process that reduces the need for chemicals.

يتم استخدام الكربون في تصفية المياه بسبب قدرته الفائقة على امتصاص المواد العضوية وإزالة الكلور، مما يحسن جودة الماء. يساعد الكربون أيضًا في إزالة الملوثات العضوية المتطايرة وتحسين الطعم والرائحة. يعتمد استخدام أنواع الكربون بحسب احتياجات تنقية المياه المحددة، فمنها الكربون المصنوع من المواد العضوية مثل قشر جوز الهند، والكربون المنشط الحبيبي، والكربون المنشط المشكل بأشكال مختلفة والتي يتم استخدامها بحسب الشيء المراد تنقيته.
