The City of San Francisco has filed a lawsuit against 10 major food manufacturers for their ultra-processed food (UPF) products. This marks the first time a government authority has taken legal action against food companies over their practices related to ultra-processed foods.
The case will present evidence showing that these companies knowingly marketed and sold products linked to chronic illnesses, following strategies similar to those once used by the to***co industry companies many of them were historically connected to.
These corporations created a public health crisis, made enormous profits, and must now be held accountable for the damage they caused.
