🌴🇦🇪💕 As an organic farm in the UAE one of our greatest challenges has been to find natural solutions to fix nitrogen in our soil. Unfortunately nowadays it is widely believed that we can only feed the world with the help of synthetically produced nitrogen. But this trend only started in the 1950s and prior to then farms around the world managed without its use. Today more than 100 million tones are applied to the Earth’s surface annually!! The side effects of this are devastating and it is fair to say that our ‘modern’ food production is killing our ecosystem. We will dedicate our next posts to why synthetic nitrogen is so detrimental to our planet and what natural solution we’ve been using instead so please keep reading our posts. Lots of important info! 🙏🙏💕💕

💙💔 The world comes together to mourn this incredible woman. Wise, steadfast, compassionate and diligent until the very end. In a way she was everyone’s Queen and we are united by a deep sense of loss. RIP we will never forget you. 💙🖤💔

🌴🇦🇪💕 🐓 We keep our chickens for the most valuable thing they have to offer - their manure! Our happy chickens are fed the best organic farm grown fodder. Here you see them tucking into some of our ‘Arabic Verde’ heirloom Chard. It’s full of nutrients and antioxidants that keep them healthy during the hot summer months. We compost the chicken manure in a process that takes around 6 months. It’s added to shredded crop leftovers with goat & cow manure. This way we get a wide nutritional profile for our soil. Without healthy soil you can’t grow organic produce. Industrial chicken manure that comes from battery hens is completely different and unsuitable for organic farming. Happy animals help to produce healthy soil which in turn protects our planet and us. We sell a small quantity of eggs and no, we don’t sell chicken meat 😊. We’re a slaughter-free farm. 🙏🙏

🇦🇪💕🌴These organic ‘Purple Viola’ Beans aren’t just beautiful and delicious they are also way more desert-hardy then their green cousins. The pigmentation helps them to cope better with the strong summer sun ☀️ and they need less water due to their extensive root growth. They grow a bit slower but when it comes to food slow is always better 😊 To order please visit www.greenhearuae.com or come and see us at our farm shop in Arjan 🙏

💕🇦🇪🌴 We hope you’re enjoying the Eid Holidays! Here you see how we grow wild herbs together with our crops for natural pest protection. Monoculture can never be organic and is so outdated! So when you see ‘organic farm’ images of large one-crop fields you know it’s not the real thing. Just like in the wild Biodiversity is key! Here you see different wild Basil varieties next to our heirloom tomatoes. We are open as us usual over the holidays so come and see us at our store or order online via www.greenheartuae.com

💕🌴🇦🇪 When you grow slow and honest food in the UAE desert it is important to extend your season. Our research and seed cultivation has made it possible to find squash varieties that can be grown during the hotter months. This Italian heirloom variety will be ready & ripe mid May - June.

🇦🇪🌴💕 Our images just like our produce is always genuine. Sometimes it’s good to see what’s behind the picture!! 😊 We’ve planted our heirloom Cauliflower right next to a row of Leeks and Fennel. Both have a strong scent and whiteflies and other insects find it unattractive so they leave our Cauliflower alone. No need for pesticides!
