Fischer’s in Marylebone, London is an Austrian restaurant. I have contemplated going there so many times; but end up changing plans.

I mean Austrian food, how good could that be ??!
Oh man, was I mistaken. Walked into the place and felt like we were transported to Austria. So many interesting dishes to try and explore on the menu, some too hard to pronounce 😁

Since it’s our first visit, we decided to keep things simple, for the ultimate test. A schnitzel and mash potato. Can they convert us into repeat customers?

Well, this is one of the best chicken schnitzels we have had anywhere, with a jus and a side of buttery silky creamy mash. Couldn’t stop , a bite of chicken alone, a spoon of mash, a bite of chicken and mash together with jus, a spoon of mash without chicken just with jus ..all the combos are delicious.
Simple dishes that look easy but most restaurants can’t delivery on.

Avoid raw food in Bali they say….Well, definitely don’t avoid Yuki , cause you will be missing a great meal.

Highlights we would definitely order again:

Nori Ahi Tacos: ponzu watermelon, avocado, sushi rice and siracha mayo, generous amount of ahi and a crunchy taco.

Wagyu beef sando : smoked cheddar cheese, truffle aioli, onion jam. We ordered 2 portions.

Lamb meatball: soy, cured yolk, wasabi mayo , also got 2 of these!

Prawn tempura: not your typical roll, salmon inside, spicy mayo, sukiyaki 👌

Dinner at Gooseberry, recommended by a countless number of friends and followers, and turns out it’s conveniently 6min drive from the villa we are staying in.
More about this villa later.

A French brasserie in Indonesia isn’t exactly easy to pull off, without having any French people !! But this place is as close as you will get, the Aussies will confirm.

We started with the foie gras with buttery brioche, it was excellent, we couldn’t stop and ordered 2 more brioches to spread on. Aya had a disproportionate amount but who is counting. Add a little touch Porto confit onion, a pinch of salt and a lick of cranberry sauce. You are good to go.

Ola insisted on ordering the Onion soup, if was light, no chunky cheese melted inside, instead it was served with a crispy Tomme de Savoie cheese crouton, on the side, so the soup was quite hearty but not heavy.

The Mille feuille (I had to google the damn spelling) was not our favorite, it’s layered with lamb, the texture was soft chewy, like lamb brains not meat.

Highlight dish:
The steaks were fabulous , MB6 Australian skotch fillet, medium doneness , 300gram x 2 plates , for a total of 600grams of goodness to share. Price was 1.8M IR , which is around 370Dhs !! Let’s reflect on that while I chew.
The surprise:
The Mérou Mousseline Soubise, a crispy-skin grouper, onion and star anise purée, feta–goat cheese vinaigrette, sunflower seeds.
The purée is made of cassava and was rich and delicious.

A late lunch at Osteria Luna in Uluwatu, recommended by Chef Hadrien Villedieu, and it hit the spot 👌
We were very hungry, got to the restaurant around 4pm and when that focaccia hit the table with the ricotta dip , we got hungrier ! The charred crunch on the focaccia and sweet caramelized onion inside was irresistible.

The frito misto was ok, not the most generous portion, Omar stole all 4 calamari rings which then caused havoc with Reyna, but disaster averted when the Fior di latte pizza landed. No one was injured.

For mains, we first ordered 2 pastas, the Rigatoni alla vodka, and the Pappardelle beef ragu. The Rigatoni was a big hit: ended up ordered another plate, and everyone dug in for round two. I even through in some of the pappardelle into the rigatoni sauce.

Great service and our friends got us homemade ice cream with olive oil and Kusamba salt, that was epic, we might pass by again for that (and some more Rigatoni).
