It’s a way of life and fact that special relationships are formed on farms with certain animals. They form for all kinds of different reasons and circumstances. Duchess was one of two calves orphaned the summer before our son was born. Adrian’s Father had the arduous task of raising two calves at the same time, bottle feeding them several times a day and giving them the attention they deserved to survive without their mothers. All whilst having a full time job and running a farm at the same time. A few years later when Adrian moved back to Antigua with his young family, he took the first steps into milking again just like his Grandfather once did, Sir Robert Hall, he had the perfect candidates to help him get started... Duchess and Nido were already used to being handled so they were the ideal girls to learn how to milk by hand. After almost 20 years break of milking on Hall Farm, Adrian started again. Following in his families footsteps and teaching his own children how to milk cows by hand. Duchess and Nido are still living out their lives on the farm.
