This wasn‘t the plan at all. We thought the hen was gone, but then she appeared again with some new family members. 🐣 We could watch them fighting over cherries for hours and hours 🍒 (The cage is just for protection, they‘ll be outside soon enough)

Now that we are back in Gols, we want to take a moment to reflect on an incredible time in the US. Twelve days, seven restaurant / bottle shop events, and dozens of inspiring conversations across four states side by side with our incredible partners. ✨A massive thank you to all the people who made this trip so special, to the inspiring sommeliers, chefs, wine curators, and the passionate staff! Thank you for your trust, for bringing so much knowledge, passion and curiosity to the dinner tables. Despite all the changes, wine is still a very communal thing, and tomorrow looks like a better place with these people in the picture. Special thanks to Zev Rovine Selections for making this all happen.

Gernot went on his Sunday bike ride through Leithagebirge today. Take a look 👀
1: Chardonnay at Edelgraben — remarkably advanced for this time of year.
2: The view from Ried Spiegel in Winden, looking towards the Hackelsberg hills of Jois and Lake Neusiedl.
3: Edelgraben = ‚forest garden‘ — we use protective netting because deer simply can’t resist our young vines.
4: Re-grafting from Blaufränkisch to Pinot Blanc in Ried Goldberg, Breitenbrunn.

It’s an open secret, we love Savagnin! And what an exciting journey it has been. Here it is Sa Va 2024, bottled in April. Grown on fascinating, pure white limestone soil, perfectly transferring its character into the wine. There are only a few varieties in the world able to transmit terroir this purely. Direct-pressed, fermented in one amphora and finalized aging in two 500 l barrels. Sold out at the winery. But you may still find a bottle at your trusted Heinrich wine dealer. (…and of course we kept a few bottles for special occasions)

days were wonderful 🥂Now off to ✨ Visit us at Festsaal 331 and taste our latest vintages: Graue Freyheit 2024, Chardonnay Leithaberg 2024, Blaufränkisch Alter Berg 2021 (more soon!). Of course we also brought our newest addition, Edelgraben Chardonnay Weißburgunder 2024. Have you tried it yet? 🤫 We‘ve also brought a barrel sample of Salzberg 2021 with us.

Party, people, tastings and meetings – this week has it all. We caught our breath beforehand walking between the vines in Leithagebirge, watched the little ducklings, enjoyed a literary reading with Peter Waterhouse at Salzberg in Gols and harvested fresh herbs in the garden. ☀️☀️☀️ Wishing you calm moments and delight in the little things. 🐥🐥🐥Come find us at and over the next few days!

Just enjoying the beauty of Edelgraben in Breitenbrunn, the wind and the smell of the lake in the air. ☀️ And the release of our first single-vineyard (Ried) white from Leithaberg. ✨✨✨ Taste our vision of a transparent and profound terroir wine: Edelgraben Chardonnay Weissburgunder 2024. A 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, grown on 30+ year-old vines on limestone and mica-schist. After 18 months in amphorae and 500L Austrian barrels, this wine offers immense tension, vibrancy and salinity.

The last cool nights are behind us, the soil is warming up and with it the soil life is becoming more active. Gernot and Jozsef collected nettle at the edge of the forest last week and brewed some tea for our vineyards. The preparation is drinkable and we also taste it to get a feeling for the extraction. For our first biodynamic spray of the year, we mix nettle tea with preparation 500. Applied to the soil, it activates microbial life and strengthens the vine’s natural resilience. The rest of the collected nettles is dried and used at a later time.
