“ ” (Bequemlichkeit, Einfachheit, Zweckmäßigkeit; wenn etwas praktisch/also convenient
ist) means the state of being able to proceed with something easily, without trouble, or in a way that
saves time and effort.

Things that came up in our :
• unhealthy, processed convenience food versus using healthy ingredients and cooking larger quantities for later use yourself which is also convenient
• What are the environmental and social impacts of convenience products? (working conditions, usage of energy, water, surface area, etc.)
• For whom is it convenient? For the consumer or for the corporations? (e.g. booking online, online banking; or think of the automotive industry: more convenient for the producer but less convenient for the consumer because spare parts cannot be replaced anymore)
• Why are so many apps free of charge? What about data security?
• More convenient does not necessarily mean more efficient
• The development is too quick and is money-driven –> we are sold things the corporations think we ought to have, but which we perhaps do not need at all
• Does AI make us dumber?

Listen for your call to adventure! We can be a hero, too, even if it is just inwardly!
We spoke and heard a lot about the "Hero's journey" (die Heldenreise) in the English Walks as well as in the English Discussion Group. Here are some things that came up in our discussions:
• Stories about a hero’s journey are all recycled material. For example “The Hunger Games” is heavily inspired by Greek mythology, specifically the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur.
• liking heroes that you can relate to
• It is only a hero if their actions are for somebody else or for the greater good.
