Wild strawberries against climate change 🍓
After some years without tilling beneath the vines, wild strawberries slowly found their way back into our vineyard at Heiligenstein-Rotfels.
They were always part of the surrounding forest ecosystem — modern viticulture simply erased them from the vineyards.
We did not plant them.
We simply stopped disturbing nature and waited.
Now biodiversity slowly takes over and starts doing its job.
Wild strawberries help shade the soil, retain moisture and become part of a living vineyard ecosystem. Healty living soils can store enough water to get independent on irrigation.
Sometimes resilience looks small.
And beautiful.
Sustainable is no longer enough.
We need to think regenerative. 🌱
