The Mehofer family has lived and worked on the Neudeggerhof estate for more than 300 years. Since 1992 all wines have been produced organically. Today, the tenth-generation is focusing on typical Austrian varieties such as Grüner and Roter Veltliner. Their favourite vineyard is Wadenthal – a unique site known for its great biodiversity. All the wines are characterized by deep layers of „Loess”. This particular type of soil provides a sound basis to the wines which are also strongly influenced by the crispiness and elegance of a rather cool Austrian climate. Despite wine, the family extracts honey from their own beehives, uses renewable resources for building, fills their wines in light-glass-bottles and grows trees for barrel production. All the mentioned activities are part of a philosophy that influences not only the family’s everyday work and wines, but also their lives and coming generations.
