The history of our Coffee
Driven by our dedication and hard work, our family company is more than the job of 3 generations combined; it is a symbol of our passion and our commitment to bringing you the boldest flavors, exciting aromas and richest texture in every cup. Ever since my grandfather acquired the land in the coffee growing region of Tolima, Colombia; the Hernandez Ocampo family has been
growing pure, high quality coffee beans for more than 50 years. His name was Jesus Maria Hernandez, a true pioneer who saw his profession as an art, connecting with his friends through each sip of coffee. His enthusiasm for coffee characterized him, making him a careful artisan of the trade; his passion allowed him to develop techniques that sustainably capitalized on the rich soils that the Herrera Tolima region offers. Situated deep in the hills of the Colombian Andes, the area has volcanic qualities, with high content of minerals that provide the perfect acidic conditions for growing high quality coffee beans. My grandpa made sure to turn his profession into a tradition or maybe even a family institution. My mother, Mercedes Ocampo, who helped him since a young age with the farm, learned everything that there is to know about coffee. Driven with an entrepreneurial spirit, she was able to increase the farm’s efficiency without sacrificing quality. It is thanks to her introduction of innovative techniques that oversee strict production controls, what allow us to bring you a world class, high quality, uniform coffee. Because D’Ocampo is a single origin coffee, that it is harvested, processed and exported by its own producers, we are able to guarantee its purity and freshness. It is this business structure what allows us to eliminate the exploiting middle man, reinvest into our communities and make sure that our workers are well taken care off. Years of experience are combined, resulting in a coffee that is able to wrap your senses with its bold aroma and rich taste. It is its unique, sustainable and natural production process, mixed with the particular soils of Tolima what allows us to grow simply good coffee but; it is our desire to share it with the world what drives us to work harder every day, so we can make sure that you are able to join one of the best cups of coffee in the world.
