Café Bel Étage keeps its toque. ✨

Take the chair by the window and the city slows down. Red velvet wraps around you, the crystal chandelier glows above two floors, and upstairs you can see the Staatsoper and the bustle of Kärntner Straße below. Somewhere on the wall, Anna Sacher smiles down with her French Bulldog Tommy, as if she approved of every cup being poured.

This is Viennese coffeehouse culture, reimagined for today: breakfast that lingers, Austrian classics at lunch, and always room for a slice of Original Sacher-Torte. With 12.5 points, Gault&Millau has confirmed its toque, and we are very proud of it.

Three toques for Restaurant Rote Bar. ✨

Step inside and the evening begins to unfold. Deep red damask surrounds you, crystal chandeliers glow above large oil paintings, and somewhere in the room a piano starts to play. Every seat here has its own story, and yours begins with dinner in the Restaurant Rote Bar and ends just across the way, when the curtain rises at the Vienna State Opera.

It is the kitchen of Anton Pozeg that gives these evenings their taste: Austrian classics, refined with regional ingredients and a great deal of respect for tradition. Now has honoured it with a third toque, up from two.

Three toques for Restaurant Grüne Bar. ✨

Step inside and the evening begins slowly: deep green walls, candlelight, and above it all the Lobmeyr chandeliers that have glowed since 1883, among the first electrified crystal chandeliers in the world. It is a room that still carries the spirit of Anna Sacher’s time, where original Faistauer paintings look down on tables set with Herend porcelain.

Into this setting, our kitchen team around Anton Pozeg and Sergio Merolla, together with host Eliska Merolla, brings modern haute cuisine with a very personal touch. And now has noticed, raising Restaurant Grüne Bar from two to three toques.

Some things are worth the wait, and so is a table by candlelight in the heart of Vienna. ❤️

150 years. Countless stories. One of them belongs to Katherine Bernhardt.

Asked which painting would describe Sacher, artist Katherine Bernhardt chose Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss: a warm embrace, loving, and exactly how she has felt treated at the hotel. And her favorite detail? The pillowcases with her name on them.

Every great house remembers the people who passed through it. ✨

For Anna Sacher, hospitality was always personal. She began the tradition of collecting her guests’ signatures on embroidered tablecloths and portraits, which still fill the famous picture gallery today. It is where culture came to life: from the beginnings of Romy Schneider’s journey, to Queen Elizabeth dining in the Restaurant Rote Bar, to John Lennon and Yoko Ono bringing their bagism performance to Hotel Sacher.

Every signature is a story, and the story is still being written.
