Welcome to KAYAN NATURALS, a community development project assisting the Kayan, an ethnic Hill Tribe of Burma. Also known as the Lahwi, Kayan history and culture is as rich and colourful as the verdant mountains and orchid forests which have been their native homelands for centuries. The hills of the Kayan region in eastern Burma are exceedingly beautiful in all their untouched natural glory, the
night sky transports you into another world and yet the Kayan, due to the remoteness of their region, find it increasingly difficult to access markets and current sustainable farming methodologies. Preserving Kayan culture is a cornerstone of the project and will align with a holistic, sustainable and environmentally sensitive approach in our aim to transition from swidden/shifting cultivation techniques to regenerative, climate smart farming methods. Transfer of these farming methods will not only preserve a natural environment, it will also significantly contribute to the long term economic development of the Kayan. Our logo is based on a uniquely Kayan cultural symbol, the “Klong” or Drums of Desire, sometimes referred to as frog drums - frogs being a guardian spirit for the Kayan. Join us on our journey in helping bring clean, green, wild produce to you for your health benefits and in return provide the Kayan with both economic and financial independence whilst preserving their environment and culture. Kayan Naturals is grateful for the opportunity to work with the local Kayan Organisation ECNKR* and BANCA to ensure community and environmental benefits are provided at village level.
