Gang catchup time 🥰

Hope you’re all warm and eating magnificent things, here’s a little of what we’ve been up to!

🌞had a gorgeous day at .org.au on Saturday, stocked up on .bagels and we ate all six in 24 hours. Getting more next time….

🌶️frying off spices for dal, something I had previously NEVER made successfully despite how simple it seems. It turned out beautiful, my white whale finally harpooned

🛒 is a cornucopia of delights. Fresh soy milk, fresh youtiao, bao, mochi, all sorts.

❤️‍🔥as always, Hot Fermented Honey alllllll over a market toastie

🌈rainbow after the wild weather, happy pride month to any American friends!

Inari! Sweet soy tofu boats, stuffed with lightly gingered rice and a variety of toppings (personally seaweed salad is goat to me).

A sushi shop fave, but did you know you can get inari shells ready to go at the Asian grocer?

❤️‍🔥Keep the marinated shells in the cupboard and you’ll be always ready to make an easy cheap brekkie, lunch, or cupboard meal. You can even use leftover rice, just freshen in the microwave with a slug of vinegar and a sprinkle of sugar.

🧑‍🍳 Proper satisfying and customisable, you can load them anything you have around, just make sure to season it!
Raw or tinned fish, chicken salad, avocado, leftover roast veg and kewpie, chuck under the grill with kimchi and cheese, and a spoon of chilli crisp if you’re feeling particularly wild.

🥰 I’ve got warm rice, soft omelette spiked with koji and mirin, our tangy Red Kimchi, and a splash of our Secret Weapon Soy for Umami.

3 easy sauces for boring meals, Salt Gang style!

At Salt Gang, we are obviously big condiment people. Eating, making, can’t get enough. If you don’t believe me, come look at 2/3 of our fridge.

🧑‍🍳We make our condiments to be used on anything, and to also be used with each other!

Here’s 3 easy quick fix all sauces we turn to when time and willpower is tight.

🙏🏻CRISPY KEWPIE
A chunky mayo dip to end all dips. You know how to use it, particularly good with chicken and in sandwiches too.

Mix a generous spoon of Hot Honey Crisp or Umami Crisp into mayo with a BIG pinch of Sichuan Mala Salt, add a splash of Dumpling Lover Vinegar if it needs acidity.

🍯 HOT HONEY SOY BUTTER
Great on corn, salmon, roast carrots and pumpkin, chicken wings, herby prawns.

Combine roughly equal quantities of melted butter, Secret Weapon Soy and Hot Fermented Honey, and a splash of Dumpling Lover Vinegar.

🥦ALL PURPOSE STIRFRY SAUCE

Equal quantities Secret Weapon Soy, BBQ Umami Sauce, a splash of Hot Fermented Honey, mixed with a little cornflour slurry. Serve with Black Bean Crisp!

We’ve had a big delicious day feasting with family (and then recovering from our food comas). We briefly considered hitting up the gym but tbh we’re definitely gonna fall asleep watching Star Trek Voyager instead.

🥰Thanks for backing and loving what we do. It’s been a huge year for us (stocking in our first supermarkets! First interstate event!) and we have YOU to thank for this.

We always have more ideas than we can possibly contain, so next year we’ll have new tastes coming and more interstate events. We’ll keep you updated 😉

💥BANG BANG CHICKEN💥
(lazy easy weeknight style)

It’s getting hot in here (so hot), so save this for summer nights where you don’t wanna even think about turning on the stove.

No claims to authenticity for this one, just an easy recipe with pantry sauces and a roast chook. Ready in literally five minutes and will hard hit your every (culinary) pleasure centre.

❤️‍🔥if you don’t have Chinese sesame butter, you can use a mix of peanut butter and tahini, but we would really recommend hitting up an Asian Grocer for the good stuff (see last pic).
It’s so tasty, so versatile, and you’ll reach for it all the time for dipping sauces and noodles.

⚡️Same for the Black Vinegar, sub with malt or rice vinegar if you want, but you can even find Black Vinegar at the wicked big two supermarkets these days.

Little Salt Gang catchup! 🥰

🍯Hot Fermented Honey on focaccia, this felt like a HUGE sandwich but their focaccia is so bloody soft and gorgeous that it didn’t feel like it
