There’s something rather special about muscatel grapes on the stem. Rich and deeply flavoured, Ditters Muscatel Grape Clusters are delicious served with cheese, crackers and roasted nuts. 🧀 🍇

They’re also part of many old Ditters memories. In Andi’s family, dried muscatels were hidden away before Christmas for the festive table. Although, she remembers, quite a few disappeared beforehand.

Now this is a very Adelaide shopping trip.

Fiona stopped by Adelaide Arcade to choose some local South Australian gifts for a golf event in the South East, and left with Haigh’s and Ditters in hand.

For many customers, it’s a real treat to be able to shop two long-standing Adelaide favourites in the Arcade again, each with generations of loyal customers and a reputation for quality.

A few weeks before Christmas, Andi’s mum would catch the tram into the city to visit Ditters, returning home with glacé fruit, nuts and dried muscatels carefully hidden away in a bedroom cupboard.

The children knew where they were, of course. And Mum was known to sneak in for a little sample herself.

What survived always took pride of place on the Christmas table.

Andi is now in her 80s and says the memory is still “burnt into” her mind. Thank you for sharing it with us, Andi.

When Rosalie was a very young girl, her father carried her on his shoulders all the way into the city from North Adelaide. After borrowing books from the State Library, they would stop at Ditters. “We always got salted cashews,” she remembers. It was a weekly ritual she has never forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Adelaide Arcade After Dark. It was lovely to see so many people stop by to taste and enjoy our spicy nuts.

Thank you also to Killibinbin for supporting the evening with their beautiful sparkling wines, much enjoyed by everyone while browsing our shop and exploring the SALA activations throughout the Arcade.

It was a wonderful evening, and one we very much hope to repeat.
