☕ WE’RE HIRING — BARISTA

The Sweet Spot Whitsundays is looking for an experienced Barista to join our team!

We’re after someone who genuinely loves coffee, loves people, and can confidently keep up in a busy café environment.

What we’re looking for:

☕ At least 2 years’ experience making coffee in Australia
You’ll need to understand how Australians like their coffee and be confident behind the machine.

✨ Confident with the coffee machine

Dialling in the grinder and adjusting throughout the day
Opening and closing the coffee machine
Consistently producing great espresso
Understanding the perfect espresso pour
Excellent milk texturing
Latte art is essential

🙌 A team player who can also work independently
You’ll be comfortable jumping in and helping the team when it’s busy, but also confident running the coffee station independently when needed.

😊 A fun, outgoing personality
We want someone who enjoys chatting with customers, has a positive attitude and is ready to greet our customers with a smile as they walk through the door.

Sometimes Mother Nature has other plans… 🌧️

This year, the weather wasn’t exactly playing ball for White on White at Whitehaven.

But when you’ve got an AMAZING events team, a little creativity and a backup plan… you make it work!

So, cue the White on White — Paradise Edition ✨

Taking the party from Whitehaven to the absolutely stunning Paradise Cove and turning Plan B into something pretty spectacular.

And as the event team worked through the change of plans, they made sure the celebrations continued for guests who had already planned their birthday celebrations around White on White. 🎂

So, hello The Sweet Spot Whitsundays and 10 Oceans of Blue cakes! 👋🏼

We created and delivered some very special Whitehaven-inspired birthday cakes straight to the event.

Because sometimes the best events happen when things don’t go to plan. 🤍

Paradise, good vibes, amazing people and one very memorable night.

WE FEEL IT’S ABOUT TIME WE REINTRODUCED OURSELVES 🤍

We’re the Mickelbourghs, Blake, Linda and our two little ones, almost 3 and 5. The local family behind The Sweet Spot Whitsundays.

Our kids have quite literally grown up alongside The Sweet Spot. From baking days and early mornings to late nights and everything in between, they’ve been part of this adventure from the very beginning.

And while The Sweet Spot has grown, at heart, we’re still the same small family-run business we’ve always been.

👨‍🍳 Blake is still behind the kitchen magic, creating all the deliciousness that comes out of our bakehouse. From beautiful wedding and celebration cakes to pastries, sweet treats, savoury favourites and, of course, his seriously drool-worthy pies.

👩‍💼 Linda is the other half of the equation. Behind your cake and catering enquiries, emails, planning and all those little details that happen behind the scenes.

And behind the scenes, it really is just us and the kids.

We don’t have family around the corner to help with the juggle, so some days might look a little different. A reply might come a little slower because we’ve got a sick little one at home, or we’re racing off to a sporting commitment. We’re learning to balance growing a business we love with giving our kids the best childhood we possibly can.
But we wouldn’t change it.

And of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing team. 🤍

They are such a huge part of The Sweet Spot. Behind every coffee, cake, pastry, pie, catering order, early morning and busy service is a team of people who help bring our business to life.

So if you’re new here — hello, we’re the Mickelbourghs.

And if you’ve been with us from the beginning, thank you. Truly.

Every coffee, cake order, pie, pastry, recommendation, tag, share and “see you tomorrow” means more to our family than you probably realise.
