A little more about one of our exhibitors, Warrina Droughtmasters:
"While the WARRINA Droughtmaster stud was established in 1987, our foundation breeders can be traced back over 60 years to the family formation of the WARRALEA Droughtmaster stud in the 1960's by Bert and Val Bauer. Their strict selection process and dedicated view to quality over quantity led to many accolades in the formative years of the breed including sale honors, carcass success and show ring broad ribbons, in an era where tropical cattle were just being to be recognized for their hardiness, while retaining the ability to produce high quality beef. With keen interest coming from 3rd on 4th generations of the family, a decision was made recently to revive the old stud prefix by obtaining selective genetics from other renown Droughtmaster studs who have had proven success with Warralea bloodlines & genetics from a few generations ago. Many of our current sale cattle now carry those bloodlines on both maternal and paternal sides of their pedigrees while also demonstrating the modern performance expected from the breed. While we continue to select our breeding cattle based on old school principles of high fertility, docility, environmental hardiness and the ability to produce top quality beef under grassfed conditions, we retain respect of the wisdom and depth of breeding of those pioneer cattlemen that came before us. While performance and reliability of our cattle is our utmost priority, we believe that "figures from a feed bag" are not something we seek or need to produce quality, low maintenance seedstock."
You can visit Warrina at the Open Day. For convenience, Warrina will be displaying at the Malanda Showgrounds.
